Burns will likely win.
I think Hedman deserves a Nomination as well.

I can't believe he's only 26.
It seems like he's been around forever.
I think he is the best in the game. But he's been so consistent, for so long, on a team nobody cares about, that people are always looking for the new shiny thing.
Burns is having a pretty fun and memorable season and will win, but Karlsson should be a close 2nd. |

Obviously No one is saying Karlsson is better than Bourque, Potvin, or even Housley. - James Tanner
No one should be saying that he's better than Keith, Doughty, or Weber either. |

Karlsson for the Norris, Burns for the Hart!! |

Most years, Karlsson wins the Norris this year. He's a very good player. Burns is just on another level this year, and dominates some games.
You don't give a player a trophy because he was good years prior, you give him the trophy because he was the best on a given year. |

I agree, but that is the precedent that has been set.
Also, it's arguable that Karlsson is having a better year than Burns. But take your pick - they're both awesome. |

Everyone should say that because it's 100% true. I know Karlsson doesn't have the Cups of Doughty and Keith, but that is pretty much Brian Murray's fault, not Karlsson's. |

Karlsson has won 2 Norris trophies. Constantly in the running for it. The narrative he is over looked is old and lazy. |

He should be in the voting for the Heart trophy also. But no way the league gives it to him over Sid, Conner or Burns. |

Agreed, and he might be better than Housley and Bourque too. Although I think Potvins mean streak gives him the nod. |

No, the precedent has been set that taking your team to regular season or playoff success, even if in the past, matters. To win the Norris, you have to either have previously won a Cup for your team; or dragged them to a division title this year. Erik Karlsson is the biggest loser (team-wise) to win the Norris in decades. Team success probably shouldn't matter, but historically it does. Karlsson has to be head and shoulders above everyone else to win the Norris if he isn't making the team around him good enough to hang some sort of banner. This year, he clearly isn't. |

I have to say, it was a privilege to watch him play in the arena last night. They guy plays nearly 30 minutes a game and does so it seems without breaking a sweat. I saw no issues with his defense last night, albeit we are not the offensive dynamo 99% of the rest of the NHL teams are. I keep hoping OEL will be the 2nd coming of Karlsson, but he's a bout a rung or two below. Granite, he is playing on a team that can't control the puck and we keep putting him out there with garbage pair D. Once he gave away the puck in OT and I saw Karlsson had it, I started for the exit.
I do think at some point OEL will be up there with Karlsson. I just hope that we in AZ get to enjoy it before his prime has past.... |
